Civil Partnership Dissolution
It’s a fact that not every civil partnership will last forever, and parting ways is never easy, especially when you consider financial worries on top of the emotional ones. As family solicitors, we recognise that each civil partnership dissolution case is unique, but we’re also convinced that the costs do not have to be prohibitive. If you’re parting amicably, then a dissolution won’t be hugely expensive. In our experience, legal costs escalate because the parties can not reach agreement relating to their children or their finances.
If you are the Petitioner in the civil partnership dissolution and your dissolution is expected to be straightforward, we will carry out the work for a fixed fee of £600 plus VAT. There is a Court fee of £550, which you will pay to the Court in order to apply for the dissolution.
If you are the Respondent in the civil partnership dissolution and your dissolution expected to be straightforward, we will carry out the work for you for a fixed fee of £400 plus VAT. Your civil partner may be claiming the costs of the dissolution from you in the Dissolution Petition and this will need to be discussed with your solicitor. The claim for costs in a Petition relates to the costs incurred by your civil partner and would be separate from the costs you will pay your solicitor for acting on your behalf.
We always recommend that you take professional advice as early as possible, even if your separation is an amicable one. By taking advice early, you can make sure you know exactly where you stand, what costs you will incur during the process, and what steps you need to take to reach your desired outcome.
